A Great Find

After spending time with Kaytie and Jared and enjoying their treadmill, we decided that it is something we would like to have. With Oregon weather so unpredictable, it would just be nice to have an alternative to raining days and nights to be able to get some exercise. Phil spend quite a bit of time doing research and looking at different models. After he decided what he might like, he kept checking on Craig's list hoping to be able to find something affordable. Then one day he came home from work early, checked Craig's list to see if there was anything new....and there it was....if it checked out good, it was going to be a steal of a deal. We went and checked it out and found a wonderful lady and a great treadmill and an amazing price. We bought it and brought it home and are now enjoying it.

Sealing of family

Phil and I made a trip to Cardston, Alberta this weekend. We met up with Phil's brothers and their wives and were able to do the temple work for their father and then seal their parents together. After the parents were sealed, the brothers were sealed to their parents.
This has been a long awaited for event and it was a joy to see it happen.

We have been "Forked"

A few months ago, I came home after attending a church meeting on a Wednesday evening. Phil had not arrived yet. As I got out of my car, I noticed something shining in my lawn. The streetlight was reflecting on my lawn and as I looked closer, I could see the shining things caused a pattern. It looked like a circle of some kind. My first thought was that those pesky lawn mushrooms are back...but why hadn't I noticed them before and why are they shining? I thought I should check this out as I am walking up to my door to put my stuff inside. As I get to the door, I look down and there are a bunch of candy with hearts scattered on our door step with an envelope with notes in it. And I thought...oh, I think we are recipients of a service project. I quickly ducked into my house and got out the camera so I could take a picture. Then I thought...okay, maybe those shining things in the lawn have something to do with this. I went back outside and stepped on the lawn and took a closer look. There stuck in the ground were several clear plastic forks. If I stood back on the road and looked at them, they made the shape of a heart. I come to find out the notes in the envelope were notes from our young women in our ward letting Bishop May know how much they appreciate him and thanked him for his service to the ward. I kept it all in place, so that when Phil came home he could see this very create display of kindness from our young women.

Like Mother Like Daughter

Kaytie 1982 six/seven months old

Annie 2009 six months old

When I saw this picture of Annie, I immediately remembered a picture I had of Kaytie when she was about the same age as Annie and I chuckled and thought like mother like daughter! Kaytie was always climbing under this end table and every time she did she would bump her head. She, like little Annie was exploring her world at a very young age. It is so fun to watch my kids enjoying their kids.

Kaylie's Baptism

On Oct. 10, 2009 our first granddaughter, Kaylie, was baptised by her father. We flew down to Utah to participate in the event. I can't believe she is growing up on me. It was a wonderful event and we are so please with Kaylie in her decision to become a member of our Heavenly Father's true church and taking upon her the covenant of baptism. I gave her a memory book that she can fill in about her baptism. I had all the adults that attended write their testimonies in the book so that Kaylie could know our feelings about being members of the Church. It was great that all our family in Utah could attend and that Aaron's parents and sister with her husband could be there as well. Tricia gave a wonderful talk about the Holy Ghost and there was a wonderful warm spirit there.

The Mess That Disappeared!

Our family room has been quite a mess this past little while. I always wanted a entertainment cabinet that would help to contain everything. Phil was finally able to find one at our local DI store for a steal of a deal. The hardest thing was to be able to find one that would fit our TV. We are still in the dark ages because we do not have a flat screen. We got rid of the table in there that just collected junk and it made for a lot more room. It is very comfortable to be in now and finally feels like a family room again.

A Step Up

Well, our printer that we have had for several years finally bit the dust (so to speak). Well there was a lot of dust under it when we finally had to move it. It quit working properly before Ben left and so out of the kindness of his heart (or because he would not be needing it for a year) we inherited his. When he first set it up, it seemed to run ruff, kind of shook the desk when it was printing. I asked him if this was normal and he said "it should be okay". The day after Ben left the printer quit on us. We think it was in mourning for Ben. None the less, I got the books out and tried everything to find out why it was not printing. No luck! I had Aaron look at it when him and Tricia came for a quick visit. No luck! Seth and Lauren & Ely were here this weekend and I told Seth he could not leave until he got the printer working. He said: "No problem!" But it ended up being a big problem because even he, the computer wiz could not get it to work. So on Saturday we made a trip to Fry's to look at all the choices. They have changed since we have looked. We were able to pick out a really nice one...it not only prints, but copies and faxes and prints photos...all within our price range. So once again we have a working printer, thank goodness. All is again well within the May household.
